It was my second week in my company when I made the most stupid mistake in my life. I went to work early because I wanted to impress my boss. I was cleaning my department office because I wanted my boss to see me doing it when she arrived. Though it was not really my job, I decided to turn on all the computers. The computers in my department were networked and had a central plug. In short, I plugged the central system. I was shocked when the plug suddenly sparked! Oh my God! My boss called the technician right away to check the problem. The technician said the power systems of these computers were damaged.

I didn’t know what to do. I approached my boss and explained what happened and begged him not to fire me. He said he wouldn’t but I have to shoulder the repair expenses. Without thinking, I said yes. Anyway, repair doesn’t really cost that much. However, when the repairman came, he said even the motherboard was damaged and all the computers must be replaced. My mind automatically calculated how much I would spend to replace these 5 computers. I tried to ask my boss if it was possible to deduct the money from my paycheck but he said no. I had to buy new units within the week.

I asked for help from my mom who was then in Chamita but she said she had no money to help me. My sister in Espanola also gave me the same response.
